Mitsubishi's new five-seat Outlander Sport is the latest in a growing segment of ultra-small crossovers that includes models like the upcoming Nissan Juke and Mini Cooper Countryman.
The company said the 2011 Outlander Sport will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and will deliver average fuel economy of 30 mpg. Electronic AWD will be available as an option.
The Outlander Sport is about 14 inches shorter than the Outlander. The Outlander Sport’s front fenders are made of dent-resistant plastic, and the ES trim level has standard 16-inch wheels and low-rolling-resistance tires, LED taillights and heated side mirrors.
This car exterior accenting the CUV’s exterior treatment and functionality are the addition of LED rear combination taillights on both models and Super wide range High Intensity Discharge (S-HID) headlamps on SE models. A wide range of eight body colors is available, including new exterior paint options Mercury Gray and Laguna Blue.
